Dear All,

Yesterday I returned safely home from my memorable FAM trip to Indonesia.

I want to express my sincere thanks to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Sapta Nirwandar and Mrs. Rizki Handayani who watched over every detail, the management of the Bali and Central Java Government Tourist Office and Mr. Urip Santoso of IMATAF. Equally responsible for its success are the principal sponsors of the trip in Bali and Vista-Express in Java, Kura Kura Aviation and Kura Kura Resort and Mr. Hugues Lamy as co-ordinator. GM Jan Bundgaard and his staff at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua were wonderful hosts. Thank you all for an excellent and efficiently organized familiarization itinerary.

Also the luncheon, dinner and other sponsored arrangements at the ALILA Manggis, Gado Gao restaurant, Puri Wulandari and Hilton Hotel in Bali and Rumah Sleman and Losari Coffee Plantation Resort in Java were of the highest quality and afforded us, the cruise line executives, a chance of getting to know several truly wonderful properties that we were not familiar with before.

We were impressed with the stakeholders' commitment to the cruise lines in the ports and the destinations we visited. This was evidenced by their presentations and interest. We thank them all. We are also grateful for the opportunity to meet with other non-sponsoring members of the tour & travel community in Bali during the round-table discussions at the Westin Hotel.

As the current tender landing behind the Lombok ferry berth is not suitable we hope that the proposed plans for a new tender landing facility in Padang Bay will be realized as soon as possible. Benoa should be workable as is, but would mostly attract terminal cruise calls due to its proximity of hotels and the airport. Padang Bay, because of its proximity to the major touring sites will remain the preferred transit way-port.

Semarang port is obviously well-managed. A concern remain mooring arrangements for larger vessels while the smaller (Seabourn) vessels would prefer the ferry berth, if available. As shuttle buses are now allowed in Semarang work needs to be done to certify suitable taxi drivers and their vehicles to ensure that cruise passengers pay fixed rates and that the vehicles are safe, comfortable and clean.

Borobudur looked better than ever but aggressive vendors remain a concern. As souvenir shopping will always be a part of the overall experience, a workable solution must be found to ensure that the vendors can offer their wares to the visitor at a comfortable but well-managed "shopping gallery" near the coach parking. They must be coached in soft-selling techniques so that the experience can become a win-win for all. Failing this, a Borobudur visit could turn from a highlight into the negative experience it now so often turns out to be.

The Kura Kura experience was wonderful and we will see how it can be included in our programs.

Once again, our sincere thanks to all.

With kind regards,

Peter Cox

Dear Elly,

Sorry for the belated reply. We have had a lot to follow up on post conference.

It was so lovely to see you at the airport though extremely short. Sorry for the rush, we had to get everyone checked in since we needed to speak with the flights desk about some continuing flights so apologies for not speaking with you longer.

Onbehalf of Charlene, myself and the GS Group, we would sincerely like to thank you for all your help during our conference.

It was not an easy conference - we had lots of challenges from last minutes changes for flights and car transfers amongst other things.

I would really like to thank ALL the team- Indra, Buda, Sukra, Made, Joni, Tri, Indah, Dede and all drivers. They workeed tireslessly for our event.

Despite the tragic bombings on Saturday, the clients were extremely pleased with the event on the whole, loved the resort and enjoyed their stay with you.

I hope you all managed to get some much needed rest and hope the hotel is still keeping you busy. Thanks again and will give you a call tomorrow or next week to see how you all are.

Keep safe.
Best regards,

Dear Elly, Indra and Team:

I wanted to also personally thank you for making Bali such a wonderful experience. I have done many tours around the world but I have never had such a tour group assist in handling everything to ensure the journey went as smoothly as I experienced with your company. Swan Mardi the entire group from your company was the very best.

I was truly stunned to the learn of the attacks on Bali and am relieved to hear that you are all well as my thoughts and prayers have been with the people of Bali. You truly live in Paradise and Bali to me is the most magical place on earth. I will definately return and bring more groups to experience your beautiful way of life and the beauty of your land. I am leaving for Egypt in November and then will began to organize the tours for next year so we will be in touch.

Again thank you for everything and I look forward to returning to Bali next year and working with your staff once again.

Blessings of Love and light,
Robbyne LaPlant
